Today is officially the first day of fall so we thought we'd bust out the layers and flannels for today's post. Although the weather doesn't currently reflect fall's crisp and cool characteristic, layers are always a good idea so you can easily adapt your outfit to whatever mother nature is feeling that day. Elizabeth went with a tunic tank top, and instead of wearing her cardigan, she tied it around her waist. She wore ankle boots instead of sandals for more of a fall-like outfit. Mixing tank tops with ankle boots is a great way to transition into fall, and having a jacket or cardigan on hand (or tied around your waist) is a smart solution for those chilly nights.
I wore my trusty flannel shirt, but instead decided to layer it over a black tank top. Again, having layers is an easy way to transition because I could easily tie the flannel around my waist if it gets too hot during the day. I love these ankle boots because they have a very small, chunky heel so they're really comfortable to walk in and they also have a hint of animal print on the back. I love mixing prints in a subtle way like this. Don't be afraid to mix a plaid or flannel with animal print especially if they are far away from each other - in this case, your shirt and your shoes. Having that space in between the prints will make it look less harsh and very effortless.
