Portraits and Thoughts

I think Elizabeth and I would agree that the best part of working on this blog is not just meeting new people, but meeting incredibly creative people along the way. We recently met with Cameron Gee, a photographer based in the Crossroads in Kansas City. He is incredibly talented and creative. We were blown away by this image that he captured of us. The first thing I thought when I saw this photo is that it truly represents how far we've come in all aspects of our lives since we started our blog. This blog journey has been an incredible ride where we've learned so much and still continue to learn something new every day. We've had so many cool opportunities come our way that we never even knew existed or could be possible. unnamed

I remember when Elizabeth and I decided to start a blog. We were sitting in my parent's living room thinking of what we would call it. We came up with The Fashion Column because we wanted it to be a weekly column of fashion tips. We had no idea what we were doing. We researched and figured out every little thing on our own. We spent evenings and weekends working on it, but no one knew about it because both of us were too afraid to show the world. Looking back now, I don't even know that person.

Not only has this blog opened doors for us, but it has helped us grow into hard working, determined and confident women. We've learned so many lessons in business and life throughout this process, and I'm so thankful for that because that's not something you can read in a book or learn in a classroom. I think the best part of looking at this image of Elizabeth and I is seeing the women that we've become since that day in my parent's living room, and recognizing that we never quit despite many unexpected and difficult challenges. That makes me very proud.

Thank you to Cameron Gee for taking this photo. You can find him on Facebook and follow him on Instagram.
